Queensland Country go top of NRC ladder with win over Melbourne Rising

QUEENSLAND Country have been too sturdy for the Melbourne Rising with a 54-12 victory at Bond University on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

A hat-trick from winger Filipo Dangunu, together with two conversions, impressed Country to an eight-tries-to-two win in heat circumstances within the fifth spherical of the National Rugby Championship.

After holding the Rising scoreless within the first half, the hosts piled on 40 factors within the second half to ship Country to the top of the NRC ladder with 4 rounds to play.

The Brad Thorn-coached Country are stage on 15 factors with the Canberra Vikings and Fijian Drua however lead on factors differential.
