So a lot college meals goes wasted, tossed in the trash, uneaten. Each day in the Los Angeles Unified School District, college students throw out at the very least $100,000 price.
That works out to about 600 tons of natural waste day by day, in response to a 2015 examine.
The district pushed for a new legislation to assist change that — and this week Gov. Jerry Brown signed it.
The legislation permits campuses to gather unopened gadgets and untouched fruit and donate them to meals banks.
