A police canine with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police picked up a discarded handgun and managed to fireplace it as officers in Calgary pursued two suspects, in accordance with CBC News.
Officers had been referred to as to a grocery retailer in Chestermere after two males, one carrying a handgun, assaulted a 3rd man, witnesses instructed police.
“While tracking, the police dog located a handgun in a bushy treed area,” in accordance with a press release from the Chestermere RCMP. “During the recovery by the police dog, the trigger was activated and a shot was fired from the handgun.”
